I must admit I’m a make up hoarder, recently my friend asked me if I have any used products I’d like to sell, naturally at first I thought I had plenty to sell and maybe some to give away. I thought to myself I have the Gwen Stefani collection that is just lying in my make up bag, it’s just there in the original packaging, I could part with it, maybe sell it and get my money back for it.
And then I finally decided to clean my bag and found that I actually didn’t want to sell any of any make up but there were some things that I didn’t want like the signature pen type liner, and the Sephora liquid liner in brown. I’m a hoarder I can’t help it, and the kicker is you can’t judge me hahaha. Because you guys are also make up hoarders, when we clean up our make up cases, areas or tables we have this looming phrase at the back of our head that now and again slips out of our mouths. “I may use that.. Let me keep it”
That’s what happened when I looked at my 60 lipsticks, 7 eyeshadow palettes, 5 Foundation palettes, 2 Foundations, 2 Concealers, 60 lip liners and 5 blush palettes, 5 highlighters etc. I’m not bragging about what I have just trying to show you how much I hoard.
Among the mini shop in my make up case I see it, my heart melts, and started to beat faster, excitement built up in me and all my life’s problems disappeared. It was my Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Collection Eyeshadow Palette, Blush palette and the brow box.
After playing around with both the palettes and the brow box I felt I could attempt a blue-black eye and a shimmery pink-peach cheek finished off with the Huda beauty Lip Contour and Liquid Matte in Icon.
It looked good on paper (my face chart) but would it look good on me? Will it suit me? This is where my qualification as a make up artist comes into play, thank the lord, I have the ability to see what looks will suit my clients, friends and family but sadly when it comes to myself, I’m still having abit of difficulty in choosing the BEST- mind blowing look. So I decided to try the face chart look on myself and here is what I found:
The Eyeshadow palette: On first glance the palette is beautiful, so beautiful that whatever I typed had to be backspaced because it just didn’t do justice to the whole look of the palette. The case is an exquisite detailed gold, white and black plastic box. When you open the palette you see the array of beautiful shades, and a mirror, with the words in the corner “Magic’s In The Make Up”. Those words are so true for any Glam-aholic don’t you think?
So now to the shades. The palette contains 15 round shadow shades ranging from natural to some jewel shadows. Not typically the shades I expected but they beautiful needless to say. On the packaging it says that Gwen over saw the design of the palette and the case design. I don’t have many Urban decay make up palettes to compare to the pigments are simply awesome.
When I buy any eyeshadow palettes I always try to find as many looks as I can from them, to make the palette worth it you know? The Urban Decay Gwen Stefani palette did not disappoint, keep a look out on my snap chat for the awesome looks I created.
Now onto the blush palette, I don’t know about you guys but my favorite thing in the world of make up is a bomb of a blush. A blush to give you that just been pinched look. I feel the blush is the most important element to a make up look, without it your face can end up looking washed out or even pale.
The Urban Decay Gwen Stefan Blush palette did not disappoint at all, the palette, much like the eyeshadow palette, it is a sight to behold. It is a white and gold case, just looking at it gives you a sense of old Hollywood glam. Once you open it up you are greeted by 6 versatile shades of blush, bronzer, and highlighter. On the packaging it states that it is an 8-hour formulation, but with the right primer I personally feel that it can go a longer way. Much like the Mirror in the eyeshadow palette the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani palette has the same saying on the mirror “Magic’s in the Make Up”
When I swatched the blushes I felt the pigment was alittle less for my liking but once I built up the product and blended it in, I got the look I had always dreamed of!!!
When it comes to eyebrows, I simply hate filling them in. I mean what the use for it? I have thick enough eyebrows, I don’t need to make them look thicker (to be honest I’ve tried and I end up look… well… like a brow freak.) at first I felt maybe im not filling in correctly and it turned out that I was using the wrong product. Once I got a hold of the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Brow box I was stunned. Not only does it possess the most amazing 2 layer housing (Black, white and gold box) but two super versatile shades go with about any brow colour and a wax to set the arches.
What amazed me more was the uniform of the brow kit to the palettes. However what really set me over the edge was the mini UD tweezer and 2 angled brushes in the second layer. My favorite thing about the brow box is the 2 magnified mirrors on both layers of the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani brow box which also had the words “Magic’s In The Make Up”
So my final impressions are that I cant give this up unless someone made an offer I couldn’t refuse lol (the godfather) but I personally feel that Urban Decay was done right by its edgy brand and choose the perfect celebrity to do a colab with.
I give the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Collection 8 lipsticks out of 10

I would love to hear from you guys, be sure to leave a comment and tell me what you guys thing?
