I know its been a while since I reviewed a product, but you guys know that I test out the products first and then review an honest opinion. Now before I get into the review, I must admit that I never really liked the Anastasia Palettes. But since my cousin Ameera Essa made a very clear and clean case on why Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye shadow palettes are the best products to have in my make up case. Now while I don’t normally give in to the peer pressure and normally stick to the brand I love (Morphe Brushes) I was tempted to try out the Anastasia Beverly Hills latest natural palette, The soft Glam.
Featuring fourteen essential shades, The Anastaisa Beverly Hills Soft Glam palette is a collection of easy to blend, full pigment shadows. With a long lasting formula, this palette is complete with bronze metallic and iridescent finishes ideal for a nighttime look as well as for neutral mattes for daytime. When this palette was first released, I wasn’t very sure if I would get it or not . Now this was a strange reaction for me, because usually when neutral palettes are released, I can’t help but roll my eyes harder. But there’s just something about the ABH formula that makes me lose all of my inhibitions. Now lets be clear, I have a lot of natural eye shadow palettes, such as the Morphe 350 palette, Kylie Cosmetics bronze palette, Huda Beauty Rose Gold Palette, Jaclyn Hill x Morphe, Jlo x Inglot Freedom palette and the Morphe 35N palette. With my love for my Morphe Brushes Eye shadow palette being so strong, I felt that the Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam palette wouldn’t even make a dent in my feelings for Morphe.
This palette is definitely the ultimate bridal palette, and I would certainly recommend it to colour and neutral lovers-alike. This may be “another neutral palette”, but it is a great neutral palette, and I would argue, THE neutral palette to add to your collection.
Packaging and First Impressions
One thing that is not beautiful in my opinion, is the packaging. I have never hated the soft velvet packaging more than now. This light shade of mustard yellow is just not attractive, and does not remind me of “soft glam”. But what makes it worse is that I have already stained the outside of this palette so much, and I’ve only been using it for two weeks. The picture below is it in its pristine state, but if you were to look at mine now, it has deep shadow stains over at least 1/4 of it. Eye shadow is a messy business, so being able to clean the packaging is a must, in my opinion.

Inside, the shades are truly beautiful, and the eye can instantly put together looks. As I have said countless times in my previous reviews is, I choose palettes that I can get a maxim of 30 looks out off, that is the only way I know if the palette is worth it to me or not, that way I can control my arg to get every over hyped product. Some palettes are just hard to figure out, but this one is very easy, with its warm neutral and cool neutral shades. I think the fact that this neutral palette includes both browns and roses makes it more unique. Seems like it would be common, but most palettes are either all browns, or all pinks, and not a mixture of both.
This palette includes 14 shades, with 9 mattes and 5 metallics/shimmer toppers.
Price and Quantity
This palette is priced at $42 USD and has 0.28 oz of product. ABH eye shadow palettes are notoriously high-priced for the amount of product that you get, and you can really see this when you compare to other eye shadow palettes.

Pigmentation and Performance
True to usual ABH style, I found that all of the shades were pigmented and very buildable. However, I did find that two of the shades were definitely drier than the others, and those were Orange Soda and Mulberry. I wouldn’t say that this impacted how they performed, but it was something that I noticed.
When first looking at the palette, I think some might be wondering about the three gold shades in the palette. I mean, how different can they be? Glistening is actually more of a sparse peachy gold shimmer that works more as a topper. This shade is like a really gentle metallic, that is really subtle-y pretty. On the other hand, Fairy and Bronze are more true metallics, that can be built up to be opaque. The only difference is that Fairy is a light gold, whereas Bronze is a more antique, deeper gold. On the eye, they do look different, although not by a whole lot.

In a lot of my looks, I noticed that I used the same line up of mattes: Orange Soda, followed by Burnt Orange, Sienna, and Cyprus Umber. The kind of L-shape that these shades form in the palette are really the best neutral warm shades to build up the crease of a look. If you want an impeccable blend, you want to use as many shades in a gradient as possible. In my opinion, ABH has seriously thought this through and they really succeeded with the shades they chose.
One shade that I really haven’t used is Rustic, because it is more of a cool-toned brown with some yellow in it. When I did cool-toned looks, I didn’t really use any mid-tone browns, so I have yet to gain some experience with this shade.
Overall, this palette performed just as well as any of the other natural shade products I own. As usual, there was quite a bit of kick back in the pan, although not as much for the dry shades. I didn’t experience a lot of fall out. The shadows blend like a dream, and the pigmentation is great, with no fading throughout the day. I really have much complaints about this palette at all.
Final Thoughts
I am very happy that I purchased this palette, since its the first Anastasia Beverly Hills eye shadow palette that I own and it just maybe be my new go-to palette for now. Lately, when I wasn’t doing a Palette Roulette or a certain look for a certain reason, I had been feeling lost on which palette to use. Well, this palette is the answer for my everyday glam-ed looks.
Now that it is winter, I love to do more rosy-toned looks to add colour to my face, and this palette totally satisfies that. But it also satisfies warm neutrals, which are also really beautiful. This palette is definitely the ultimate bridal palette, and I would certainly recommend it to colour and neutral lovers-alike. This may be “another neutral palette”, but it is a great neutral palette, and I would argue, THE neutral palette to add to your collection.
Have you tried this new ABH palette? What do you think? Is it just another boring set of neutrals, or do you agree that it is special in its own way? Comment down below!
