My Stay at Holiday Inn- Rivonia Road Sandton

Get your coffees in hand, sit comfortably as I take you on a journey of magic and wonder…

Once a upon a last month, hubby decided to go for his cousin’s wedding in Pretoria and I wanted a holiday so I being the glam queen that I am decided to make use of my Tsogo Sun membership and book in a hotel. Now when it comes to booking anywhere for me as a consumer Prize is KING, the better the price the better chance of me booking, but for this particular time price was of no consequence, not because I’m “oh so rich” on the contrary my dear readers. It’s just I knew my birthday was in 2 weeks (10th September, incase anyone was wondering). So I wanted to treat myself like an all-girls getaway,  you know like the movie Girls Trip or for Indian fans, Veer De Wedding. But instead of going on a trip with my girls… I went on a trip with my hubby.

So yes, girls I made the most of it and turned it into a romantic getaway (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) but this isn’t that sort of post. Our trip was set and the hotel stay was booked with Holiday Inn- Rivonia Road Sandton, situated in the heart of Sandton featuring 2 pools, a gym, a staffed business centre, 24-hour room service, and a fantastic sky bar. Apart from that what made our stay magical was the staff from check in to the porter to the breakfast staff, the stay at this hotel was truly effortless and I loved it. What deserves an honourable mention is that Holiday Inn Rivonia Road had an on-call doctor, lol excuse me for a moment while I picture Mc Steamy from Grays Anatomy being the on-call doctor. lol now just to be clear, I haven’t met or seen this doctor, but I’m glad to know that had hubby or I choked on our breakfast the doctor would have saved us (but a girl can still dream lol)

The room was your basic hotel room, so I won’t go into much detail about that. But what I think deserves most of may mention is the treatment we received. So our first morning there, Hubby and I went down for breakfast, the breakfast selection was amazing but not Halaal, so we asked the Chef Busi if she could make an omelette for Hubby but in a separate frying man were NO non-halaal meats had touched and low and behold she had a frying pan ready, she hasn’t hubby to choose his omelette filling and told him to take a seat at our chosen table, while eating our breakfast muffins and croissant a waiter came to take our coffee/ tea order AND to serve hubby omelette.

Check out what I had for breakfast all 3 days of my stay here

The next day for breakfast, Hubby and I walked into the breakfast area and the hostess (I didn’t get her name) directed us to our table. she called it our Usual table which made me feel more special like I belonged lol. So once seated she asked if we would like anything and I said “yes I’m dying for a cappuccino” and Muhammad said he wanted tea. once that order was placed I went to get our customary Croissant and some fruit to start off with from the buffet and as  I was walking past Busi (the chef) asked me “where is my friend?” I then told her that hubby was at the table and he was too tired to come to choose his filling, but if he’s up for it I will send him to choose.

I then walked back to the table and as we started digging into the fruit Busi walks up to the table and places an omelette in front of him and tells him that she knows his tired but she made the omelette just for him, with the same filling he chose the day before. Hubby and I were shocked, like a Happy shocked and thanked her for the special treatment. Now imagine being Busi to caters for 200+ guests and took such special care with us and actually remembered what she made for us the day before. If that is not world-class treatment, I don’t know what is.

Have you been given special treatment at a Hotel before? Let me know in the comment section below.
