Huda Remastered???

Back in 2016 beauty guru Huda Kattan (aka Huda Beauty) announced and launched her first ever Eye shadow Palette and killed expected sales targets from Sephora and Sephore Online Store as well as cult beauty and Harrods.

Later that year makeup lovers were slapped with a harsh reality: Huda Beauty, was discontinuing her lionized Rose Gold Palette. Soon, many makeup lovers’ favorite eyeshadow palette faded to a faint memory… until the 13th of May 2018 when Huda Beauty announced the rose gold palette’s long-awaited return.

As Huda explained in her first in a string of Instagram and Twitter posts about the new Rose Gold Remastered Palette, Everyone who knows me, knows how important our original Rose Gold Palette was to us, but when we launched it, we really had to invest everything into the Palette and couldn’t invest in things like packaging & innovation! That year 2016, I actually couldn’t afford to pay myself salary, because this Palette was such a huge project for us! Fast forward to 2018 and we wanted to reintroduce our Rose Gold Palette, with completely new and never seen before formulas, listening to everything you guys wanted! From SUPER intense mattes & incredibly creamy pigmented foils, we are sooo excited to reveal to you our Rose Gold Remastered Palette.”

Her original Instagram photo has racked up over 210,000 likes and tons of excited comments ( with heart-eye emojis), and Huda has continued to build on the fervor with subsequent glam shots and promotional footage. On the Huda Beauty blog, Huda explained that the brand took into account a ton of consumer feedback to create the updated rose gold palette, reconstructing the formulas and textures to be creamier and have richer pigments. The palette also includes some new eyeshadows, like the melted metal shades for a “liquid metal finish” and a pressed-pearl shimmery shade.

Having owned the first Rose Gold palette and loving it (click here for my review) I couldn’t help but wonder if I should get the remastered palette. A lot of questions went through my mind, like, would I potentially be spending $65 on a palette that i already own? How different from the first palette is the remastered one? how many shades are different? but most importantly Should I spend my hard earned money on a palette that looks 100% like one that I already own?

So while I contemplated getting a palette for myself, one of my very close friends had already gotten hers and lets just say that she was pissed. You see my friend Tas had rushed to buy the first palette  back in 2016 when it was announced that the original palette was being discontinued, being afraid to miss out Tas bagged hers. Then on a recent trip to Dubai, Tas got a little carried away and picked up the remastered palette, and once she was home she could’t help but kick herself for spending so much money for a palette that she already has.

Before I continue I just want to point out that the original rose gold palette was still available on Cult Beauty and Harrods online store. So what was the point of relaunching this “remastered” palette? So anyway, since I am a freelance make up artist (I get clients here and there) Tas decided to gift the palette to me because she felt I would make better use of it then her. So naturally, I was over the moon, at first glance I felt that this palette shade collection was slightly different, but on closer inspection and comparison I saw that the palette was the same, give or take one or two shades. The main 2 differences that one immediately spots is the packaging and that the shadows have been moved around. Noticing my confusion when swatching it my loving husband suggested I do some research maybe then my mind will be at ease and I would come to love the palette as much as I have come to love the others before it.

So off to Youtube I went, and the reviews blew my mind! everyone else was asking the same question as I was. WHY??? why was this palette even created? was it not formulated correctly in the first palette?  or did she want to perfect perfection?

Before i get alot of hate mail, and comments, I just want to point out that I love Huda Kattan, The Huda Beauty brand and I love what they stand for. BUT i simply, and utterly HATE this palette!!! I hate it to the extent that it peevs me to think about it. I know you must be asking yourself why,  so let me explain in detail.

Packaging:

The packaging is stunning, with Huda Kattan surrounded by roses. The materiel feels the same as the Desert Dust Palette as in it is a cardboard palette with a mirror inside which I must admit is wonderful especially if you on the go. The cardboard box that the palette comes in is a rose gold box, with rose indents on it along with the Huda Beauty Logo in white.

Pigmentation:

The pigmentation of this palette is the same as the original palette so nothing new to report but I must admit that that the amount of fall out is shocking, not as shocking as the anastasia beverly hills sculpture palette (to find out more subscribe to my monthly newsletters) another thing that shocked me is that the amount of product that was in the pan was Shockley less then the original palette, and I first headed  to sephora.com to see the reviews there but didn’t find much, so I went to Youtube to see if I was the only one with this issue and I came across many beauty guru’s complaining about the same thing.

Now for a comparison between the original Rose Gold and the remastered palette. They are the same with exception to the lay out, just one foil shade and just one metal shade. If you look at the picture below the Original palette is on the top and the Remastered palette is at the bottom. If you look carefully you will notice that the shades have moved around a bit and and the similarities are disappointing.

Now if you are obsessed with Huda beauty as I am and follower her and her brand on all social channels, then you would know that Huda Kattan and her family have started a reality show on Facebook Watch called Huda Boss. In the very first episode you hear about Huda Beauty’s concealer issue, and how they had to scrap the project in the most dramatic way. So I’m guessing, and this is purely my opinion, the remastered palette was just a filler for the sake of launching a product while they work on the concealers.

My final thoughts on this palette is that no matter the excuse given for relaunching a palette that you could get from Harrods and Cult Beauty, it is NOT worth your hard earned money, unless you don’t or never owned the Original rose gold palette. I love the Huda Beauty brand, I love most of the products, but I am conflicted  in my love for the brand and giving an honest review, so as much as it pains me and to show you, my readers that I respect you so much I will give me my honest rating. I hereby rate the Rose Gold Remastered palette 2 out of 10 lipsticks.
