Eyeshadow palettes that leave us drolling, seem to be the launch of choice for some of our favorite makeup brands. From Charlotte Tilbury’s new Instant Eye Palette to the Morphe Jaclyn Hill Palette, the demand for a statement eye seems to be fast overtaking a statement lip in the countdown to the festive season. Another palette that was created for big things, The highly anticipated Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette from Huda Beauty.
Following in the record-breaking footsteps of the brand’s Rose Gold Textured Shadows Palette, this jewel-toned successor’s shade selection is pretty striking. Inspired by the rich colours of the Middle East, my eyes were immediately drawn to it – the 18-colour collection of golds, purples, burnt oranges and bronzes definitely complements my skin tone. Inspired by the vibrant sunsets and vivid landscape that surround Huda Kattan and family in Dubai.
Eight of the shades are mattes, six are high-shimmer pressed pearls, three are duo-chrome toppers and, a pure glitter named Cosmo. Densely glitter-packed for incredible impact, it is fuchsia, bronze and golden tones make it ideal as a glitter liner. Other highlights include Nefertiti, a sparkling gold pressed pearl and a go-to of Huda Kattan’s , the buttery bronze Blood Moon.
Multifaceted and eye-catching, it’s one palette for all those that like to be more experimental with their eye makeup and offers the type of colour payoff that all skin tones will like. It offers a bold selection of high quality shades and textures to experiment with and while it can be a little overwhelming at first, I’d say embrace it – finding your ideal desert dusk formula is part of the fun.
It’s an experience, a journey that starts with its incredible packaging, an eye look that is truly multi-dimensional. At 56 pounds, it’s not exactly the cheapest. However considering the success of its predecessor the Rose Gold Limited Edition Palette , it is a price that many are willing to pay for the quality. From outside to inside to price tag, it’s a treat and one that actually could be worth adding to your Christmas wish-list or splashing on come payday.

As great as this palette may be, and as much as I love the Huda beauty brand, there is a voice in my head that keeps asking me, if its worth it. Is it worth spending my hard earned money for something that is THIS over hyped? Forgive if I am being to judgmental, but I feel that the Huda Beauty Desert Dust palette may look nice but it is seriously over hyped.
