Huda Beauty 3D Highlighter palete

Not long after the release of her amazing liquid matte lipsticks Huda Kattan shocked the world when she announced that she was working on a highlighter palette.

You can imagine my excitement when it had finally released on shophudabeauty.com and on Cult Beauty. From the day it launched till we did store buying my goal was to get the highlighter for myself. Lucky for me a customer decided to make use of our dropshipping method on Glamorise Brands online store and I finally had an excuse to get one of my own.

Naturally when something new is released in the Make Up industry one can get quiet curious on weather the hype is real or not. So like every other make up lover I decided to check what all the hoopla was all about.

The 3D highlighter palette consists of one cream highlighter and three powder highlighters housed in a slim, cardboard palette with no mirror, much like the Huda beauty rose gold palette. Each highlighter has quite a bit of product–it’s a substantial size for a cheek palette.

Huda Kattan had released not just one but two Highlighter palettes which would suit all skins tones. The 3D Highlighter palette comes in shades Golden sand and Pink sands. The Golden sands palette is said to be created for the medium to dark skins beautys were as the Pink sands palette is more for lighter skin beauty’s.

As with all my make up I love lots of pigments and I honestly love that blinding Highlighter on the cheek bone. So while testing the palette out I tryed not to get my hopes up to high, I had read the method that is on the palette to see the recommended effect.

The first step is to apply the melted Strobe called Capri onto the high points of the face such as the cheek bone, forehead, nose and my favorite the Cupid’s bow. Formulated with shea butter to smooth out pores, the creamy highlighter serves as a base for the powders in the palette. This product alone gives your skin that incredibly dewy look without an unnatural glitter finish.

The formulation was incredibly dense, thick, and difficult to blend out or use; I found it extremely challenging to use it over my liquid foundation, after trying it six times, as it moved the base product so much and caused noticeable unevenness. When I tried layering one of the powders over it, the powders looked chunky, almost looked like it caked onto the skin.   The powder formula was smooth but dense, and they needed a heavier hand or a denser brush to get even coverage and color onto the skin.

One of my favourite things about the Huda Beauty products is that, Huda Kattan took it old school by using ones hands to get the best possible look. I found the 3D highlighter palette was no exception. I did find that by using my fingers to blend made the highligher was more smooth and blingy. you can watch my little tutorial below to get more of an idea if you should really get on of the Highlighters for yourself.
